6LACK, pronounced “black,” is the stage name of Ricardo Valdez Valentine Jr., an Atlanta-based artist born in Baltimore and raised in Atlanta. He first gained attention as a battle rapper and as part of the Spillage Village collective before breaking through with the 2016 single “PRBLMS,” which appeared on his debut album Free 6LACK. His music blends hip-hop, R&B, and trap elements, with a style often described as moody and introspective, built around melodic vocals and rap phrasing. He has released albums including Free 6LACK and East Atlanta Love Letter, and his live performances are associated with emotionally direct songs about relationships, heartbreak, and personal reflection.
