Agriculture is a black metal band formed in Los Angeles in 2019 by guitarist/vocalist Dan Meyer and drummer Kern Haug after meeting at a noise show. Guitarist Richard Chowenhill and bassist/vocalist Leah Levinson later joined, solidifying the lineup. The band self-released their debut EP The Circle Chant in 2022 before signing to The Flenser label in 2023, which released their self-titled album that year, followed by the EP Living Is Easy in 2024 and the album The Spiritual Sound in 2025. Agriculture performs ecstatic black metal, incorporating blast beats, tremolo guitars, and harsh vocals with elements like pedal steel, organ, saxophone, and influences from Zen Buddhism, Bob Dylan, and queer history. They are known for live performances that engage diverse audiences, including at festivals like Roadburn and events with traditional metal acts such as Testament and Machine Head.
