Air Supply formed in Melbourne, Australia, in 1975 when English-born Graham Russell and Australian Russell Hitchcock met during the production of Jesus Christ Superstar. Initially a five-piece harmony vocal group including Chrissie Hammond, the band released their debut single 'Love and Other Bruises' in 1976, which reached the Australian Top 10, followed by a self-titled album that hit #2 on the Australian charts. Early members changed, with Jeremy Paul replacing Hammond before the group toured with Rod Stewart in 1977. The duo achieved international success with their 1980 album Lost in Love on Arista Records, featuring hits 'Lost in Love,' 'Every Woman in the World,' and 'All Out of Love.' Their 1981 follow-up The One That You Love produced the #1 single of the same name. They earned a 1980 Billboard Top Adult Contemporary Single award for 'Here I Am' and 1982 American Music Award for Favorite Band, Duo or Group Pop/Rock, with platinum certifications for several albums. Known for soft rock ballads and close harmonies, Air Supply has maintained a consistent touring presence with Hitchcock and Russell as core members, supported by rotating musicians.
