Bachman-Turner Overdrive is a Canadian rock band formed in Winnipeg, Manitoba, in 1971, emerging from the earlier group Brave Belt. Its core early lineup included Randy Bachman, Robbie Bachman, Tim Bachman, and Fred Turner, with the band name adopted in 1972 as its sound shifted toward hard rock. The group is identified with straightforward, riff-driven rock and became closely associated with the initials BTO. The band released a series of albums in the 1970s and is known for songs including "Takin' Care of Business" and "Let It Ride." Its live shows are generally associated with classic rock performance material drawn from that catalog, along with music from the group's later lineup changes and reunion activity.
