Bassvictim is a London-based electronic duo formed in 2022 by Polish-English vocalist and songwriter Maria Manow and American-English producer Ike Clateman, also known as Henry Clateman. They met in Berlin that summer with mutual dislike but reconnected four months later outside Peckham Audio in London, where Clateman proposed the band name due to the intense bass. Their first single, 'Canary Wharf Freestyle,' appeared in 2023. The duo's music blends bass-heavy dancefloor electronics, EDM, and self-coined 'basspunk', a genre-agnostic style with heavy trap drops, industrial hooks, and Polish-language elements, as heard in tracks like 'As Long As' and 'Air on a G-String.' They released their debut EP Basspunk on their own label in spring 2024, which gained viral traction underground. Bassvictim is known for explosive live shows and organizing 'Victim of the Bass' (VOTB) parties in South London, alongside European club appearances and secret sets with acts like Two Shell.
