Bleachers is an American indie pop band formed in 2013 by Jack Antonoff, who remains the primary songwriter and instrumentalist. Based in New Jersey, the project began as a solo venture before expanding to include touring musicians Mikey Freedom Hart, Sean Hutchinson, Evan Smith, Michael Riddleberger, and Zem Audu as official members in 2023. The band's music draws from late 1980s and early 1990s influences alongside John Hughes film aesthetics, combined with contemporary production techniques. Their debut album Strange Desire (2014) produced the hit single "I Wanna Get Better," which topped the Billboard Alternative Airplay chart. Subsequent releases include Gone Now (2017) and Take the Sadness Out of Saturday Night (2021). Bleachers are recognized for their energetic live performances and emotionally introspective songwriting that blends catchy melodies with personal narratives.
