Boys Like Girls formed in Andover, Massachusetts, in late 2005. Vocalist Martin Johnson, previously of bands Fake ID and The Drive, recruited bassist Bryan Donahue, drummer John Keefe, who brought guitarist Paul DiGiovanni, and completed the lineup. The band signed with Columbia Records and released their self-titled debut album in 2006, featuring singles 'The Great Escape' (Platinum-certified), 'Hero/Heroine' (Gold), and 'The Great Escape.' Their style blends pop rock, power pop, and emo influences. The follow-up album, Love Drunk (2009), topped the Top Rock Albums chart and reached the Top 10 on the Billboard 200, with hits including the title track (Platinum) and 'Two Is Better Than One' (featuring Taylor Swift). Crazy World arrived in 2012. After a hiatus from 2011, during which Johnson produced for artists like Taylor Swift and Blink-182, bassist Donahue departed and was replaced by Morgan Dorr. The band resumed touring in 2022 and released 'BLOOD AND SUGAR' in 2023. Boys Like Girls performed on the 2006 Vans Warped Tour and reached No. 1 on MTV's Total Request Live in 2007. They are known for energetic live shows developed in Massachusetts venues.
