bunii, born Niccolo Terre, is a Los Angeles-based alternative rock artist who began producing music at age 15 using FL Studio. Initially creating beats for rappers, he transitioned to solo artistry around 2023, adopting a DIY approach in his bedroom studio after frustrations with collaborators. He uploaded his first track, “Mina,” to SoundCloud in July 2024, drawing influences from instrumental jazz, Japanese rock bands like Susquatch and The Cabs, and early 2000s pop-punk and emo acts such as Paramore and My Chemical Romance. His style blends midwest emo, math rock, and indie elements, characterized by self-produced, lo-fi tracks with intricate arrangements. Notable releases include the EPs 8:30 is too early (January 2025) and Bastard (July 2025), followed by the major label debut album VIRGILIO in 2026 via Warner. In October 2024, he was named SoundCloud’s first unsigned Ascending artist. bunii is known for his raw, hyper-collaborative SoundCloud indie sound, often recording in single sessions to capture spontaneous emo-pop fragments.
