Charley Crockett is a Texas-born country, blues, and Americana singer-songwriter born March 24, 1984, in San Benito. After leaving home at 17 with a guitar acquired from a pawn shop, he spent years busking on street corners across New Orleans, New York, Dallas, and Paris while developing his musical craft. He released his debut album A Stolen Jewel in 2015, earning a Dallas Observer Music Award for Best Blues Act, and has since released ten albums blending country, blues, folk, and jazz influences into what he calls a "Gulf & Western" sound. His breakthrough came with albums Welcome to Hard Times and Music City USA, produced by Mark Neill. Crockett received a GRAMMY Award nomination and was honored as Emerging Act of the Year by the Americana Music Association in 2021. His music has been praised by major publications including The New York Times, Rolling Stone, and Pitchfork.
