Chuwi is a Puerto Rican band formed in 2019 in Isabela by siblings Willy, Lorén, and Wester Aldarondo, later expanding to include friends like percussionist Adrián López. Their music fuses tropical neo-psychedelia with traditional Puerto Rican elements such as bomba, plena, and salsa, alongside electronic textures and Caribbean influences including Dominican folk and Cuban rhythms; lyrics address Puerto Rican independence, migration, and gentrification, emerging from the Telegramgate protest context. The band gained visibility through a feature on Bad Bunny's 2025 album Debí Tirar Más Fotos with the single 'Weltita,' which charted on Latin charts and earned platinum certification in Spain, and by serving as his backing band during the No Me Quiero Ir de Aquí residency. They performed at the Latin Grammys and delivered a Tiny Desk Concert. In 2025, Chuwi completed their first U.S. tour with eight dates across festivals and headline shows in cities including Austin, New York, and Miami.
