Circle Jerks formed in 1979 in Los Angeles, California, by vocalist Keith Morris, formerly of Black Flag, and guitarist Greg Hetson, ex-Redd Kross. Initially named the Bedwetters, the lineup included bassist Roger Rogerson and drummer Lucky Lehrer. They recorded their debut album Group Sex in 1980, featuring 14 songs in 15 minutes, which became a key release in hardcore punk. The band released six studio albums, including Wonderful (1985) and VI (1987), before disbanding temporarily to allow Hetson to focus on Bad Religion. They reformed multiple times with lineup changes, such as bassist Zander Schloss joining in 1984. Their style blends fast hardcore punk with melodic elements and satirical lyrics.
