Clipping. is an experimental hip-hop trio formed in Los Angeles in 2009 by producers William Hutson and Jonathan Snipes as a remix project pairing noise-inspired beats with rap acapellas. Rapper Daveed Diggs joined in 2010, solidifying the lineup with Hutson and Snipes, friends from childhood and college. They released their debut mixtape Midcity independently in 2013, followed by the album CLPPNG on Sub Pop Records that year, characterized by self-imposed rules like avoiding first-person lyrics and traditional drums.
