Cuco is the stage name of Omar Banos, a Mexican-American singer-songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist from Hawthorne, California. He began playing music as a child and taught himself multiple instruments before developing a home-recorded style that blends bedroom pop, indie pop, psychedelia, and Latin influences. Cuco first drew wider attention with early self-released material and a viral cover of Santo & Johnny’s "Sleep Walk." His 2017 single "Lo Que Siento" became his breakout release and led to a broader recording career. He released his debut mixtape Wannabewithu in 2016 and his debut studio album Para Mi in 2019. His live performances are built around his bilingual catalog and lo-fi, melodic arrangements.
