Def Leppard is an English rock band formed in Sheffield in 1977. The group emerged from the late-1970s British heavy metal scene and developed a melodic, radio-friendly style that helped it reach a wide audience in the 1980s. The band’s early lineup included Joe Elliott, Rick Savage, Pete Willis, and Tony Kenning, with the name changing from Deaf Leopard to Def Leppard in 1977. Def Leppard is known for studio albums such as Pyromania and Hysteria, and for live performances that have remained a major part of its career into the 21st century.
