Dogstar is an American alternative rock band formed in 1994 in Los Angeles, California. The band consists of drummer Robert Mailhouse, bassist Keanu Reeves, and guitarist/lead vocalist Bret Domrose. The group originated from a chance meeting between Mailhouse and Reeves in 1991, with Domrose joining as vocalist and guitarist in 1994. During their initial active period from the mid-1990s to early 2000s, Dogstar built a reputation as a strong live act, opening for David Bowie at the Hollywood Palladium in 1995 and touring extensively throughout the United States and Asia. The band performed at major festivals including Glastonbury in 1999. After their final show in Japan in 2003, the members pursued separate musical projects while maintaining their friendship. Dogstar is known for their DIY ethos and garage-band approach to alternative rock.
