Eli Young Band is a country group formed in 2000 in Denton, Texas, by Mike Eli, James Young, Jon Jones, and Chris Thompson while the members were attending the University of North Texas. Their music blends country with rock influences, and sources describe their sound as guitar-driven, storytelling-focused, and rooted in Texas country. The band’s breakout album was Life at Best (2011), which included the singles “Crazy Girl” and “Even If It Breaks Your Heart”; the latter brought a Grammy nomination for Best Country Duo/Group Performance. They have also released 10,000 Towns and Fingerprints, and they are known for energetic live shows built around tight musicianship and performances in clubs, amphitheaters, and larger venues.
