Everclear is an alternative rock band formed in Portland, Oregon, in 1992 by singer, songwriter, and guitarist Art Alexakis. After early releases on independent label Tim/Kerr Records, including the 1993 EP Nervous & Weird and debut album World of Noise, the band signed with Capitol Records. Their 1995 major-label debut Sparkle and Fade achieved platinum status, driven by the hit single “Santa Monica.” Subsequent albums So Much for the Afterglow (1997) and the double album Songs from an American Movie (2000) also reached gold or platinum, yielding Top 40 singles like “Father of Mine,” “I Will Buy You a New Life,” and “Wonderful.” The band has released 11 studio albums, selling over 6 million records worldwide, and received a 1998 Grammy nomination. Original members bassist Craig Montoya and drummer Greg Eklund left in 2003, but Alexakis has continued Everclear with rotating lineups. The band maintains an active touring schedule, known for high-energy performances that emphasize their catalog of radio hits from the 1990s and early 2000s.
