Fontaines D.C. are an Irish band formed in Dublin in 2014. The group is associated with alternative rock and post-punk, and its lineup includes Grian Chatten, Carlos O'Connell, Conor Curley, Conor Deegan III, and Tom Coll. Their name references the character Johnny Fontane from The Godfather, with “D.C.” added for Dublin City after a naming conflict. The band’s early releases established them as a Dublin-based live act with a tight, guitar-led sound and spoken-word-influenced vocals. Their recorded work includes the debut album Dogrel and later albums that expanded their style beyond early post-punk comparisons. They have toured internationally and are known for performances built around driving rhythms, prominent bass and guitar lines, and Chatten’s distinctive vocal delivery.
