Foreigner is a British-American rock band formed in New York City in 1976 by English guitarist Mick Jones, formerly of Spooky Tooth, along with Ian McDonald (ex-King Crimson), American vocalist Lou Gramm, keyboardist Al Greenwood, bassist Ed Gagliardi, and drummer Dennis Elliott. The name reflects the mixed nationalities of its members, with at least half considered foreigners in any country. Their self-titled debut album, released in 1977, included hits 'Feels Like the First Time,' 'Cold as Ice,' and 'Long, Long Way from Home,' marking the first of six consecutive US Top 10 multi-platinum albums. Subsequent releases like Double Vision (1978) featured 'Hot Blooded' and 'Blue Morning, Blue Day,' while 4 (1981) and Agent Provocateur (1984) produced 'Urgent,' 'Juke Box Hero,' 'Waiting for a Girl Like You,' and 'I Want to Know What Love Is,' the latter topping charts in the US and UK. The band has sold over 80 million records worldwide, including 38 million in the US. Foreigner maintains an active touring schedule, known for high-energy performances of their arena rock anthems, often featuring orchestral collaborations in recent years.
