Guns N' Roses formed in Los Angeles in early 1985 from members of Hollywood Rose and L.A. Guns, including vocalist Axl Rose and rhythm guitarist Izzy Stradlin, with lead guitarist Tracii Guns, bassist Ole Beich, and drummer Rob Gardner. The lineup soon stabilized after Guns departed, with Duff McKagan joining on bass and Steven Adler on drums, followed by Slash on lead guitar during their 'Hell Tour' to Seattle. They signed with Geffen Records in 1986. The band plays hard rock, blending raw energy and blues influences. Their debut album Appetite for Destruction (1987) topped charts worldwide, featuring hits 'Welcome to the Jungle,' 'Sweet Child o' Mine,' and 'Paradise City.' Follow-ups G N' R Lies (1988) and the dual Use Your Illusion albums (1991) achieved multi-platinum sales. Lineup changes ensued, with Stradlin leaving in 1991 and Slash, McKagan exiting later; the current version centers on Rose, Slash, McKagan, and others. Guns N' Roses performances emphasize high-energy sets marked by Axl Rose's dynamic stage presence and extended improvisations.
