Hail the Sun is a post-hardcore band formed in 2009 in Chico, California, by Donovan Melero (lead vocals, drums), Aric Garcia (guitar, backing vocals), Shane Gann (guitar, vocals), and John Stirrat (bass). The members, who met in college at Chico State University, draw from post-hardcore, progressive rock, and math rock influences. The band has released nine recordings, including the albums POW! Right In The Kisser! (2010), Wake (2014), Culture Scars (2016), Mental Knife (2018), New Age Filth (2021), and Divine Inner Tension (2023) via Equal Vision Records. Early works were self-released or on indie labels like Blue Swan Records. Hail the Sun maintains an active touring schedule, having supported acts such as Dance Gavin Dance, CHON, The Fall of Troy, and Silverstein, including dates on Vans Warped Tour.
