JADE is an American R&B vocal trio formed in the early 1990s, consisting of Joi Marshall and Tonya Kelly from Chicago, Illinois, and Diana 'Di' Reed from Houston, Texas. The group, initially known as JAD, was finalized with producer Vassal Benford and signed to Giant Records. Their debut album, Jade to the Max (1992), achieved platinum status, featuring hits like 'Don't Walk Away' (#2 R&B, #7 Hot 100) and 'I Wanna Love You' (#16 Hot 100). Their second album, Mind, Body & Song (1994), also reached platinum, with singles '5-4-3-2 (Yo! Time Is Up)' and 'Every Day of the Week.' JADE performed on BET's Listening Party Live, the only group to release such a session as a CD. The trio disbanded after 1994 but reunited briefly in 1997 for the soundtrack contribution 'Keep on Risin'' to The Sixth Man and has performed sporadically since, known for strong harmonies and engaging live vocals.
