Jimmy Eat World is an American rock band formed in Mesa, Arizona, in 1993. The group’s core lineup includes Jim Adkins, Tom Linton, Rick Burch, and Zach Lind. Their early releases were associated with punk rock and emo, and later work broadened their sound toward alternative rock and power pop. The band is known for its role in the 1990s and 2000s emo scene, with albums such as Clarity and Bleed American often cited in that context. Their live performances typically center on a catalog that includes melodic rock songs, heavier early material, and the single "The Middle," which became their best-known mainstream track.
