Joey Valence & Brae are an American hip-hop duo from State College, Pennsylvania, formed by Joseph Bertolino (Joey Valence) and Braedan Lugue (Brae), who met as freshmen at Pennsylvania State University around 2018-2019. They began releasing music in 2021 with singles like 'Crank It Up' and 'Double Jump,' followed by viral success with 'Punk Tactics' in 2022. Their style blends old-school boom bap hip-hop, breakbeats, hardcore punk, and 90s nostalgia, drawing influences from Beastie Boys and early rap pioneers. The duo has released three studio albums: Punk Tactics (2023), No Hands (2024, with features from Danny Brown, Terror Reid, and Z-Trip), and Hyperyouth (2025, their RCA Records debut). They have performed at festivals including Lollapalooza, Reading & Leeds, Aftershock, and Laneway, and opened for Sum 41 on their final tour. Known for high-energy live shows characterized by humor, adolescent antics, and crowd engagement, they transitioned quickly from dorm room sessions to selling out tours across North America and Europe.
