Kes, commonly known as Kes the Band, is a Trinidadian soca group formed in 2005 by brothers Kees Dieffenthaller (lead vocals), Hans Dieffenthaller (drums), Jon Dieffenthaller (rhythm guitar), and friend Riad Boochoon (bass). Originating from backyard performances in Trinidad, the band blends soca with R&B, pop, rock, EDM, and reggae, drawing from the island's diverse musical influences. The group gained prominence with their 2011 album Wotless, featuring the title track that won the International Groovy Soca Monarch competition, and Stereotype, which included a collaboration with Tessanne Chin. In 2020, 'Stage Gone Bad' with Iwer George secured both International Soca Monarch and Road March titles at Trinidad Carnival. Other notable releases include Wired (2012) and hits like 'Tuesday on the Rocks' (2013). Kes is recognized for high-energy live performances that fuse island beats with rock elements, hosting the annual Tuesday on the Rocks concert series in Trinidad and satellite events abroad, and touring globally to audiences up to 20,000.
