LCD Soundsystem is an American electronic rock band from Brooklyn, New York, formed in 2002 by James Murphy, co-founder of DFA Records. The project began with singles like 'Losing My Edge' in 2002, leading to their self-titled debut album in 2005, which received critical acclaim and a Grammy nomination for Best Electronic/Dance Album. Subsequent releases include Sound of Silver (2007), This Is Happening (2010), and American Dream (2017), the latter topping the U.S. charts and earning a Grammy for Best Dance Recording for 'Tonite'. The band disbanded after a 2011 farewell concert at Madison Square Garden, documented in the film Shut Up and Play the Hits and live album The Long Goodbye. They reunited in 2015, releasing 'Christmas Will Break Your Heart' and touring festivals. Known for blending dance-punk, post-punk, disco, and electronic elements, LCD Soundsystem delivers energetic live performances featuring extended sets and audience engagement.
