Lord Huron formed in 2010 as a solo project by Ben Schneider in Los Angeles, California. A Michigan native from Okemos, Schneider drew inspiration from Lake Huron, where he recorded early EPs such as Into the Sun and Mighty. He recruited childhood friends Mark Barry on drums and percussion, Miguel Briseño on bass and keys, and Tom Renaud on guitar to perform live, evolving the project into a full band. The band blends indie folk, alternative rock, and cinematic elements, often evoking adventure tales through mood and imagery. Key releases include the debut album Lonesome Dreams (2012), which reached No. 5 on Billboard's Heatseekers chart; Strange Trails (2015), topping the Folk Albums chart; Vide Noir (2018); and Long Lost (2021). The track 'The Night We Met' achieved platinum certification. Lord Huron is known for live performances that expanded from Schneider's solo efforts, with the core lineup reuniting childhood collaborators to deliver their atmospheric sound.
