Mt. Joy is an American indie rock band formed in 2016 in Los Angeles by Matt Quinn and Sam Cooper, who first met in high school near Philadelphia. The band's name derives from a hill in Valley Forge National Park. Founding members Quinn (vocals, guitar) and Cooper (guitar) recorded their debut single 'Astrovan' with bassist Michael Byrnes, later adding drummer Sotiris Eliopoulos and keyboardist Jackie Miclau. They signed with Dualtone Records in 2017 and released singles 'Sheep,' 'Cardinal,' and 'Silver Lining,' the latter reaching number one on the Billboard Triple A charts. Their self-titled debut album followed in March 2018. The band blends indie folk and rock elements in their music. Mt. Joy has performed at festivals including Bonnaroo, Newport Folk Festival, and Lollapalooza, and opened for acts such as The Head and the Heart and The Shins. They have conducted headlining tours in North America and Europe, noted for their onstage chemistry.
