Mumford & Sons formed in London, England, in late 2007. The band consists of Marcus Mumford (vocals, guitar, drums), Ben Lovett (keyboards, vocals), Ted Dwane (bass, vocals), and former member Winston Marshall (banjo, guitar; left in 2021). Emerging from the West London folk scene, the members drew from diverse backgrounds including jazz, indie rock, and punk. Their music blends folk rock with acoustic instruments such as banjo, mandolin, and double bass, alongside rhythmic alternative rock elements. They signed with Island Records in 2009, releasing debut album Sigh No More that year, which reached number two on the UK charts and earned a BRIT Award for British Album in 2011. The single 'Little Lion Man' became a top 40 UK hit. The band is known for energetic live performances featuring foot-stomping rhythms and audience interaction, as demonstrated in tours including Glastonbury 2008 and extensive UK and international outings.
