Muse is an English rock band formed in 1994 in Teignmouth, Devon, consisting of Matthew Bellamy on lead vocals, guitar, and keyboards; Chris Wolstenholme on bass and backing vocals; and Dominic Howard on drums. The band released their debut album Showbiz in 1999, featuring a melancholic alternative rock style with Bellamy's falsetto vocals, followed by Origin of Symmetry in 2001, which incorporated classical influences and established their reputation for energetic live performances. Subsequent albums like Absolution (2003), Black Holes and Revelations (2006), and The Resistance (2009) marked seven consecutive UK number-one releases, blending progressive rock, electronic elements, and orchestral arrangements. Muse have nine studio albums as of 2022's Will of the People, with singles such as 'Supermassive Black Hole' achieving international success. They are known for elaborate live shows featuring extensive lighting, visuals, and large-scale production.
