Oingo Boingo Former Members is a band formed in 2005 by original Oingo Boingo members, including drummer Johnny 'Vatos' Hernandez, saxophonist Sam 'Sluggo' Phipps, bassist John Avila, and keyboardist Carl Graves, with guitarist Steve Bartek occasionally joining. It evolved from the 1979-1995 rock band Oingo Boingo, founded by Danny Elfman in Los Angeles as a new wave octet with ska and punk influences, featuring prominent horn sections. The group performed material from Oingo Boingo's albums such as Only a Lad (1981), Dead Man's Party (1985), and Boingo (1994), known for energetic live shows often at Halloween events in retro venues. They maintain the original band's hyperkinetic style, blending horns, guitars, and driving rhythms for nostalgic performances.
