The Palm Springs Gay Men's Chorus formed in 1999 in Palm Springs, California, as The Caballeros following a 1998 holiday concert by the Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles. Initially with 24 members, the group rebranded to its current name and grew to around 75 singers by 2009, performing at venues including the McCallum Theater and Palm Springs Convention Center. The chorus presents choral music with a focus on musical excellence, community outreach, and civic responsibility, including barbershop harmony through its subgroup The Arrangement, formed in 2014. Notable achievements include performances at GALA Festivals in Montreal (2004) and Denver (2016), a 2018 city proclamation naming it the Official Gay Men’s Chorus of Palm Springs, and 2016 recognition as Organization of the Year by Greater Palm Springs Pride. Live, the chorus is known for seasonal concerts, collaborations with groups like the Gay Men’s Chorus of San Francisco, and outreach events supporting anti-bullying initiatives via the George Zander Memorial fund.
