Pearl Jam is an American rock band from Seattle, Washington, formed in 1990 by former members of Mother Love Bone, including Jeff Ament and Stone Gossard. The group emerged from the early-1990s Seattle rock scene and began performing under the name Mookie Blaylock before adopting Pearl Jam later that year. Its core lineup has included Eddie Vedder, Mike McCready, Jeff Ament, Stone Gossard, and Matt Cameron. The band’s early releases, including its 1991 debut album Ten, established its place in alternative rock and grunge. Pearl Jam is known for long-running touring activity, a large live catalog, and an emphasis on live performance that often changes from show to show. Its first official show took place in Seattle on October 22, 1990, and the band has remained active since then.
