Hassan Emilio Kabande Laija, known professionally as Peso Pluma, is a Mexican singer and rapper born June 15, 1999, in Zapopan, Jalisco. He began playing guitar at age 15 through self-teaching via YouTube videos and developed his craft by writing songs with his cousin Roberto "Tito" Laija Garcia. Peso Pluma's musical style blends corridos tumbados with Latin urban, reggaeton, and trap influences, creating a contemporary take on regional Mexican music. He released his debut studio album Ah y Qué? in 2020, followed by Efectos Secundarios in 2022. His breakthrough came with the single "El Belicón," which achieved eight-times Platinum Latin certification in the United States and accumulated 10 million YouTube views within a month. Subsequent releases including "Siempre Pendientes" marked his entry on the Billboard Global 200 chart. In December 2025, Peso Pluma formalized his long-standing partnership with his cousin through their joint studio album Dinastía. He is recognized as Mexico's most streamed artist and has become a significant figure in the global revival of corridos.
