Pink Martini - Upcoming SoCal Concerts

Pink Martini formed in 1994 in Portland, Oregon, when Thomas Lauderdale founded the ensemble to provide music for political fundraisers supporting causes like civil rights, affordable housing, and environmental efforts. Drawing from global influences, the group blends classical, jazz, old-fashioned pop, samba, and other styles, performing songs in 25 languages with a dozen musicians. Lauderdale recruited vocalist China Forbes, a Harvard classmate, in 1995; their debut single 'Sympathique' became a hit in France, earning nominations for Song of the Year and Best New Artist at the 2000 Victoires de la Musique Awards. The band's debut album Sympathique (1997) achieved international success, followed by releases including Hang On Little Tomato (2004), Hey Eugene! (2007), and Splendor in the Grass (2009). Pink Martini has sold over 3 million albums worldwide via its Heinz Records label and performed with more than 50 orchestras, such as the Los Angeles Philharmonic and BBC Concert Orchestra. Known live for its multilingual repertoire and eclectic energy, the group has toured extensively across Europe, Asia, the Americas, and beyond, debuting at the Cannes Film Festival in 1997 and with the Oregon Symphony in 1998.
