Quicksand is an American post-hardcore band from New York City, formed in 1990 by Walter Schreifels, Tom Capone, Sergio Vega, and Alan Cage, with roots in the city’s late-1980s hardcore scene. Their sound blends hardcore intensity with alternative metal and post-hardcore dynamics, often marked by heavy riffs, shifting rhythms, and melodic hooks. The band released an early self-titled EP before its debut album, Slip (1993), which brought them wider attention through songs such as "Dine Alone." They followed with Manic Compression (1995) and later reunited after their initial breakup, continuing to record and tour in later years.
