Ramón Ayala formed the duo Los Relámpagos del Norte with Cornelio Reyna in the early 1960s in McAllen, Texas, releasing their debut single 'Ya No Llores' in 1964 and producing 20 albums that shaped norteño music. After Reyna's departure in 1971, Ayala founded Ramón Ayala y Sus Bravos del Norte, recording over 113 albums including early releases like La Pura Maña (1971) and later hits such as Quémame los Ojos (2000). The band worked with vocalists including Antonio Sauceda, Eliseo Robles, and Mario Marichalar from 1993 onward, achieving hits like 'Tragos Amargos' and 'Casa de Madera'. Ayala has won four Grammy Awards, including for En Vivo… El Hombre Y Su Música (2001), Quémame Los Ojos (2001 Latin Grammy), and El Número Cien (2002). His live performances feature accordion-driven norteño sets known for their energetic delivery.
