Da'mario Donshay Horne-McCullough, known as Rio da Yung OG, was born on May 11, 1994, in Flint, Michigan. He began rapping in 2017, influenced by Detroit rapper Peezy, and gained recognition in the Flint and Detroit rap scenes through collaborations with artists like RMC Mike and Louie Ray. His style features raw, conversational delivery with dry humor, unfiltered street life accounts, and often chorus-free tracks recorded in one take, described as 'blunt rap.' Key releases include the Dum and Dummer mixtape series (2019), City on My Back (2020), Fiend Lives Matter EP (2021), The F Tape EP (2023), and Rio Circa 2020 (2024). Legal issues interrupted his career with house arrest in 2019 and a 44-month prison sentence starting in 2021. Post-release in 2025, he resumed activity with singles like 'Rio Free' and limited performances before expanding live shows.
