Robert Plant is an English singer and songwriter from West Bromwich, Staffordshire, born in 1948. He became the lead singer and lyricist of Led Zeppelin when the band formed in 1968, and after the group dissolved in 1980, he built a long solo career that has included work with Alison Krauss and other collaborators. His music is rooted in rock, with later recordings also drawing on blues, folk, bluegrass, and early rock and roll. Plant is known for his wide-ranging voice, dynamic stage presence, and energetic live performances, and his catalogue includes work from Led Zeppelin as well as solo albums such as Now and Zen.
