Soft Cell are an English electronic music duo formed in Leeds in 1978 by vocalist Marc Almond and instrumentalist David Ball. They came to prominence in the early 1980s as part of the synth-pop movement, and their recordings are associated with the broader rock and electronic pop landscape. The group is best known for its studio work as a duo and for live performances centered on Almond’s vocals and Ball’s electronic arrangements. Their official site identifies the act as Marc Almond and Dave Ball and notes continued activity as a recording project, including a planned final studio album announced for 2026.
