SPARKS - Upcoming SoCal Concerts

Sparks is an American rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1971 by brothers Ron Mael on keyboards and Russell Mael on vocals, evolving from their earlier project Halfnelson started in 1968. After initial releases on Bearsville Records, they relocated to England, signing with Island Records and assembling a new lineup for their 1974 album Kimono My House, which featured the UK Singles Chart number-two hit 'This Town Ain’t Big Enough for Both of Us.' Their style shifted across glam rock, new wave, and synth-pop, notably with the 1979 Giorgio Moroder-produced No. 1 in Heaven, and later tracks like 1983's 'Cool Places' with Jane Wiedlin. Sparks maintained a core duo with rotating members, releasing over 25 albums spanning five decades. They are recognized for quirky songwriting, acerbic lyrics, and theatrical live performances, highlighted by Russell Mael's animated stage presence contrasting Ron's stoic demeanor.
