Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, a punk rock supergroup and cover band, formed in San Francisco in 1995. The project originated among members of bands including NOFX, Lagwagon, and Swingin' Utters, with Spike Slawson on lead vocals since inception. They began with 7-inch singles like the 1995 Denver EP on Fat Wreck Chords, followed by their debut full-length Have a Ball in 1997, their best-selling release. The band covers songs from diverse genres in rapid-fire punk style, often incorporating classic punk elements. In April 2025, founders Fat Mike and Spike Slawson announced the touring lineup would be rebranded as Spike and the Gimme Gimmes, featuring Slawson alongside C.J. Ramone on bass, Joey Cape on guitar, John Reis, and others. Notable albums include Are a Drag (1999), Have Another Ball (2004), and Ruin Jonny's Bar Mitzvah (2006). Current members include Slawson, C.J. Ramone, Joey Cape, Pinch, and John Reis. The band performs high-energy shows limited to 30 minutes, delivering fast punk versions of pop, country, and show tunes with a humorous approach, known for tight execution and audience singalongs.
