Spiritbox is a Canadian heavy metal band formed in 2017 in Victoria, British Columbia, by vocalist Courtney LaPlante and guitarist Mike Stringer, both formerly of Iwrestledabearonce. The duo received funding from FACTOR to record their self-titled debut EP, released in October 2017, followed by the Singles Collection EP in 2019 and singles like 'Holy Roller' in 2020. Their style blends metalcore, progressive metal, djent, and electronic elements. The band's 2021 debut album Eternal Blue marked a breakthrough, earning a Grammy nomination. They signed with Pale Chord in partnership with Rise Records. Initially a duo, they expanded to a full live lineup including bassist Bill Crook and drummer Ryan Loerke by 2018, enabling performances that highlight their technical instrumentals and LaPlante's vocal range.
