Squeeze - Upcoming SoCal Concerts

Squeeze formed in Deptford, South London in 1974 when Glenn Tilbrook answered an advertisement placed by Chris Difford seeking a guitarist and songwriting partner. The band's early lineup included keyboardist Jools Holland, bassist Harry Kakoulli, and drummer Gilson Lavis. Taking their name from a Velvet Underground album, Squeeze emerged as part of the new wave movement, with their 1978 debut album produced by John Cale. Their breakthrough came with the 1979 album Cool for Cats, which featured the hit single "Up the Junction" and established their signature style of witty, observational lyrics paired with infectious pop-rock melodies. The band initially disbanded in 1982 due to creative tensions between Difford and Tilbrook, then reunited in 1985. They achieved further chart success with the 1987 single "Hourglass", which became their biggest US hit. After splitting again in 1999, Difford and Tilbrook reunited the band in 2007. Throughout their career, Squeeze has maintained a touring presence, with Difford and Tilbrook remaining the only constant members across multiple lineup changes.
