Straight No Chaser formed in 1996 at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana, when ten students from the Singing Hoosiers started an a cappella group. They debuted at a 36-hour dance marathon and performed at venues including Carnegie Hall before original members graduated in 1999, with the group continuing as a student ensemble. A 1998 video of their comical '12 Days of Christmas' went viral on YouTube in 2007, prompting a reunion of founders and a record deal with Atlantic Records in 2008. The professional nine-man group, including founding members Jerome Collins, Walter Chase, and Steve Morgan, specializes in a cappella arrangements of pop, rock, and holiday songs, with recent additions like Freedom Young enhancing vocal percussion. They have released eight albums, including RIAA Gold-certified Holiday Spirits and Christmas Cheers, and collaborated with artists such as Paul McCartney, Elton John, and Stevie Wonder. Their latest non-holiday album, Yacht on the Rocks, features Toto's David Paich. Known for live performances blending precise harmonies with humor, Straight No Chaser has toured extensively, sold over 225,000 tickets, and appeared on major television shows, maintaining a dynamic stage presence across headlining tours.
