Sugar was an American alternative rock band formed in late 1991 by Bob Mould (vocals, guitar), David Barbe (bass), and Malcolm Travis (drums). The trio made their live debut in February 1992 at the 40 Watt Club in Athens, Georgia, after rehearsing at R.E.M.'s studio space. Their 1992 debut album Copper Blue was named Album of the Year by NME and featured the alternative rock radio hit "If I Can't Change Your Mind." The band released Beaster in 1993, which reached number 3 on the UK Albums Chart, followed by File Under: Easy Listening in 1994. Sugar disbanded in 1995 after a Japanese tour. The original members reunited in June 2025 and released their first new song in over three decades, "House of Dead Memories," in October 2025.
