Switchfoot is an alternative rock band formed in San Diego, California in 1996 by brothers Jon Foreman (lead vocals, guitar) and Tim Foreman (bass guitar), along with Chad Butler (drums). The band's name derives from a surfing term. The current lineup includes Jerome Fontamillas (guitar, keyboards) and Boaz Roberts (guitar). After initial success in the Christian rock scene, Switchfoot achieved mainstream recognition following the inclusion of four songs in the 2002 film A Walk to Remember. Their major-label debut, The Beautiful Letdown (2003), produced hit singles including "Meant to Live" and "Dare You to Move." Subsequent releases such as Hello Hurricane (2009) earned Grammy recognition. The band has established itself as a consistent live act through extensive touring and has maintained a presence across both mainstream and Christian music charts throughout their career.
