Syd is the professional name of Sydney Loren Bennett, an American singer, songwriter, producer, and musician from Los Angeles. She first gained attention as a member of the alternative hip-hop collective Odd Future, where she also worked as a DJ and engineer under the name Syd tha Kyd. Her early work in that scene helped lead to her later role as a co-founder and lead vocalist of The Internet, an R&B and soul group formed in 2011 with Matt Martians. As a solo artist, Syd has released albums including Fin, Broken Hearts Club, and Beard. Her music is associated with alternative R&B, neo-soul, and hip-hop, and her live performances are typically centered on her vocals and band-backed material rather than a DJ format. She is also known for collaborations within the Los Angeles music scene and for bridging rap, R&B, and electronic influences across her work.
