The Academy Is... is an American rock band formed in 2003 in Chicago, Illinois. Originally called "The Academy," the band added "Is..." to their name in 2004 to avoid legal conflicts with other established acts. The group's core lineup featured William Beckett on vocals and guitar, Mike Carden on guitar, Michael Guy Chislett on guitar and keyboards, Adam Siska on bass, and Andy Mrotek on drums. The band released three studio albums: Almost Here (2005), Santi (2007), and Fast Times at Barrington High (2008), along with four EPs. They were signed to the Decaydance imprint of Fueled by Ramen before disbanding in October 2011. The Academy Is... reunited for performances at Riot Fest 2015 and again in 2022, demonstrating continued interest in their catalog of emo and pop punk material.
