The Wombats are an English indie rock band formed in Liverpool in 2003. The group consists of Matthew Murphy, Tord Øverland Knudsen, and Dan Haggis. They came together while studying at the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts and built an early following through local shows and club appearances. Their debut album, A Guide to Love, Loss & Desperation, was released in 2007 and included songs such as "Let's Dance to Joy Division," "Moving to New York," and "Kill the Director." The band has since released multiple studio albums and is known for a guitar-based sound that incorporates pop hooks, post-punk, and new wave influences. In live settings, they perform as a three-piece rock act with a set centered on their recorded catalog.
